Does removing the stitches hurt? Do I need another local anesthetic injection?

Suture removal is usually only slightly painful, but no local anesthetic is given beforehand because it's not that painful. There are three main factors that might cause more pain than usual.

1. Removing sutures after the scheduled time – tissue will start to grow over the sutures, making them more difficult and painful to remove.
2. The sutures are too tight – pulling on the tissue excessively, causing pain, stiffness, and irritation.
3. Suture removal technique – Pulling too hard or too fast can be painful for some people.
4. Everyone's perception of pain is different; it's not the same for everyone, and you can't generalize. Some people are very relaxed about it, while others say they feel nothing at all.

The doctor advised me to come in for suture removal as scheduled and to inform the doctor immediately if I feel the wound is unusually tight, so that I can take proper care of it.
