Will squeezing pimples leave a scar?

  • It depends on who squeezes it. If you squeeze it yourself, you might not get all of it out, causing a wound, which increases the chance of scarring. But if a professional squeezes it, knowing the right angle and the type of acne, the chance of scarring is much lower.
  • The main cause of acne scars in 80% of patients who come to the clinic for acne treatment is squeezing, picking, scratching, poking, and picking at their acne themselves. Inflamed acne also recurs in the same spot, leading to acne scars.

Will squeezing pimples leave a mark?

Immediately after squeezing a pimple, there may be slight redness or bruising from the pressure, but these usually fade within 10-20 minutes. There's no need to worry. However, if you experience dark or red marks after acne, you should use topical medication in conjunction with proper skincare. You may also consider laser treatments or other treatments at a clinic to help speed up the fading process.
