Acne scar scar reduction
- Fibroscopic surgery is a treatment procedure that uses a small needle to cut the fibrous bands that lie beneath acne scars. These bands pull the skin down, creating acne pits. Fibroscopic surgery helps release the taut skin, causing the pits to become shallower and the skin to appear smoother.
Which types of acne scars is this suitable for?
- Fibrosis (surgical removal of scar tissue) is suitable for rolling scars, which have a wavy or undulating appearance. These scars often result from mild acne inflammation that doesn't penetrate deep into the dermis.
How many times does this need to be done?
- The number of times scar tissue resection is required varies from person to person, depending on the severity and number of scars. Generally, it may be necessary to have around 3-5 sessions.
- Space the treatments 4-6 weeks apart for satisfactory results.
