List of weight-loss pen brands and active ingredients approved by the Thai FDA that patients should know (Updated June 3, 2569).
Currently, the main weight-loss pens that are widely discussed and used contain the following active ingredients:
Liraglutide
Liraglutide is one of the first GLP-1 analog medications approved for weight loss and weight management.
- Well-known brand names: Most patients are familiar with the name. Saxenda (Zaccenda)
- Mechanism of action: The medication mimics the body's GLP-1 hormone, helping patients feel fuller faster, reducing hunger, and making it easier to control their diet.
Semaglutide
Semaglutide is also a GLP-1 analog drug, but it is a later-developed drug and is recognized as highly effective for weight loss.
- Well-known brand names: Semaglutide is a medication used directly for weight loss. Wegovy (Weegovi) In Thailand, it may be known by a different name. Ozempic (Osempic) This medication is primarily used to treat diabetes, but it is also used off-label (outside its primary indication) for weight loss under medical supervision.
- Mechanism of action: Similar to Liraglutide, it mimics the hormone GLP-1, helping to control appetite, making you feel full faster and for longer. Research has shown its effectiveness in weight loss.
Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is a new drug with a different mechanism of action than others, because it is a first-line drug that acts as a primary drug. GIP/GLP-1 dual agonist It works by mimicking both GLP-1 and GIP hormones simultaneously.
- Well-known brand names: Most patients know him/her by this name. Mounjaro (Mount Jaro)
- Mechanism of action: Because it mimics the effects of two hormones, it is even more effective at weight loss. Research has shown that it can lead to significant weight loss.
