What can I do about rough, scarred nose?

Scarring and rough skin on the nose are often caused by several factors. In some cases, it's not solely due to acne.

  1. Inflammation or acne on the nose. — If there is acne or deep inflammation around the nose, it may cause scarring or pitted acne marks, resulting in uneven skin texture.
  2. Old wounds from scratching or injury. — If a wound is not treated properly or becomes infected, it can cause the surrounding tissue to become hard or irregular.
  3. Rough, dry skin from sun exposure or aging. — The skin around the nose, which is frequently exposed to sunlight, may become rough, leading to an uneven skin texture.

Laser skin resurfacing

How to treat scars on the nose.

  • Skin resurfacing laser program: For deep and uneven scars, fractional CO2 laser or resurfacing laser is often recommended. This stimulates new collagen production, resulting in noticeably smoother skin.
  • Microneedling This method stimulates skin repair by using tiny needles to encourage collagen production, helping to reduce scarring.
  • Filler injections: In some cases of very deep pits with significant tissue loss, fillers may be injected to fill and smooth the skin.
  • Skin smoothing treatment: For example, use products containing fruit acids (AHA) and salicylic acid (BHA) to help exfoliate skin, reduce roughness, and stimulate the regeneration of new skin cells.
  • Start by nourishing and protecting your skin: Use sunscreen daily to protect your skin from sun damage and help it recover.

We recommend that if you have many or prominent scars on your nose, you should see a doctor first. This will allow for an assessment and a plan for the most appropriate and safe treatment, ensuring the best possible results.
